  1. Remember each " carb " food (starch, fruit, milk) has about 15 grams of carbs per "serving"

  2. Add up the carbs you eat in grams (read the food label/ carb book); notice the serving size

  3. Divide the total carb grams you eat at a meal by your Food Factor  This is how much NL or HL insulin you take at the meal to cover the carbs you eat PLUS…

  4. If your BG is elevated, take ____units of NL/HL for every _­____points your BG is over 150

          This is your Correction Factor or 1 unit of NL/HL will lower your BG ____points
