Overview
The Strelitz Diabetes Institutes is a center of excellence devoted to diabetes and metabolic disorders at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

Developed as an ambitious response to the critical need for specialized diabetes care in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, the Institutes has become an international leader in the fight against diabetes since it opened its doors in 1987.

With a comprehensive program of pioneering research, patient care and education, the Strelitz Diabetes Institutes is comprised of three integrated programs that are improving lives and creating new hope for a future free of diabetes:

The Research Institute conducts pioneering research toward a cure for diabetes and the prevention and management of complications and consults with the clinical program for advanced translational patient care.

The Frances and William Wallach Clinical Care Institute provides state-of-the-art care for people who come from around the world for treatment through multiple services and programs.

The Education Institute provides support and information on diabetes and related disorders to patients and the general public, training for medical students, fellows, faculty, and professionals, and develops educational tools for clinical use.
