Diabetes Institutes Foundation hits an all-time high in FUN-draising at Leonard R. Strelitz Memorial Golf Tournament

It was all great fun - from Sunday night's reception in the ballroom at the Cavalier Yacht & Country Club in Virginia Beach to the next day when even the weather didn't dampen spirits on the last two holes.

Transformed into a Monte Carlo casino, the Cavalier ballroom glittered during the evening reception. Everyone got in the mood with music and roulette. The silent auction organized by Bonnie Alder and Sandy Donaldson raised $5,100. Everything sold! Creative and fanciful baskets offering everything from French wine and food to French poodle inspired dog treats made the auction especially exciting. Along with the baskets, there was sparkling jewelry, luxurious clothes, beautiful artwork, and gift certificates to some of the finest restaurants in the area.

The next morning 31 teams assembled on the links and almost made it through the day without rain. No one melted although they were a tad damp, and everyone enjoyed the luncheon and awards as the sun came out again. Congratulations to John Harris and his team for winning the event!

After the event, came the great news that the Strelitz Memorial Golf Tournament netted over $115,000 for the Strelitz Diabetes Institutes.
